In order to better serve the members of the MTABF, eligible members will have greater flexibility in the provider they utilize to obtain prescription eyeglasses & contacts. If you use Raymond Opticians, they will continue to provide MTABF members with the outstanding service that we are accustomed to which includes a free spare pair of glasses. Raymond Opticians will continue to file vision claims with ASO on your behalf. You will not need to file a claim or pay out of pocket for covered services. THE IMPROVEMENT... You will now be able to go to any vision provider and be reimbursed for covered services at the rates provided by our plan. MTABF members choosing to utilize another provider will pay upfront and submit claims to ASO for reimbursement.

The MTA Benefit Fund Board of Trustees made the decision to change third party providers from The Preferred Group to ASO. This decision was made after numerous attempts, over a period of several years, of trying to improve the quality of the service expected for the MTABF membership were unsuccessful.
During this transition, The Preferred Group has supplied incorrect and incomplete data to ASO. The team at ASO is working diligently to correct these errors. Your patience as this process is addressed is appreciated.
It is important that the MTABF have accurate data for our members. You can assist in the process of ensuring that your information is accurate. Through ASO you have the ability to set up a personal Member Portal. This portal allows you to view your information, upload necessary forms (ie: birth & marriage certificates), see the status of claims, etc.
If, after setting up your portal and reaching out to ASO, you are still experiencing unresolved issues, please use the Benefit Fund Feedback Form to report:

OUR DENTAL PLAN FORMAT HAS NOT CHANGED!
- Your dentist does not need to be on the list of preferred providers. MTABF members, as always, can go to the dental provider of their choosing, submit the bill and be reimbursed for the amount that the MTABF plan pays.
- Preferred dental providers were made aware this summer that the only thing changing for them was the address where they needed to submit their bills.
- It has come to the attention of the MTABF that despite the recent increases to the amount that dentists receive under the MTABF plan, some dental providers are stating that they take our plan fee schedule and then bill members for more than the coinsurance for restorative procedures. This is a deceptive practice and is not part of the agreement for preferred providers. Please question your dentist BEFORE service is rendered. You should also bring a copy of our fee schedule to your appointments.
Please use the Dental Provider Feedback form to:
- Recommend preferred provider dentists that are providing great service.
- Recommend great dentists that do not participate in our plan for solicitation to become a preferred provider.
- Report dentists who say they are providers but then bill more than the plan allows.
