You will now be able to go to any vision provider and be reimbursed for covered services at the rates provided by our plan. MTABF members choosing to utilize another provider will pay upfront and submit claims to ASO for reimbursement. Please see the MTABF Vision Web Page for all details and to access the new vision claim form. If you still have questions, speak to your MTABF Trustee. As your Financial Counseling Benefit provider, Stacey Braun, is offering an Income Tax Webinar to help you prepare for the 2023 tax season. This webinar will discuss the following:
The MTA Benefit Fund Board of Trustees made the decision to change third party providers from The Preferred Group to ASO. This decision was made after numerous attempts, over a period of several years, of trying to improve the quality of the service expected for the MTABF membership were unsuccessful. During this transition, The Preferred Group has supplied incorrect and incomplete data to ASO. The team at ASO is working diligently to correct these errors. Your patience as this process is addressed is appreciated. It is important that the MTABF have accurate data for our members. You can assist in the process of ensuring that your information is accurate. Through ASO you have the ability to set up a personal Member Portal. This portal allows you to view your information, upload necessary forms (ie: birth & marriage certificates), see the status of claims, etc. If, after setting up your portal and reaching out to ASO, you are still experiencing unresolved issues, please use the Benefit Fund Feedback Form to report:
OUR DENTAL PLAN FORMAT HAS NOT CHANGED!
Please use the Dental Provider Feedback form to:
The MTABF Board of Trustees has voted to extend the deadline ONE FINAL TIME for any outstanding claims from the 2022-2023 school year. The final deadline for any 2022-2023 claims is December 15th. These claims should be sent to ASO either via the MEMBER PORTAL or should be sent CERTIFIED MAIL. No claims for the 2022-2023 school year will be honored after December 15, 2023. The MTABF is dedicated to making your experience as easy as possible, so please help us help you. Sincerely, The MTABF Board of Trustees
OUR PLAN IS NOT CHANGING! THE ONLY THING CHANGING IS THE ADMINISTRATOR WHO PAYS THE CLAIMS ON THE MTABF's BEHALF. Please do not submit any claims to Preferred or ASO during the July 15 -August 15 blackout period. After all data is transferred to ASO from Preferred, approximately by 8.15.23, claims can be submitted to ASO. The blackout period DOES NOT mean you can't visit providers (i.e. dentists, vision, etc.) You CAN! You & your providers just need to wait until August 15th to submit claims. If a provider is telling you something different or refusing you service, they do not understand how this transition works. An alternative option to providers denying you service because they don't understand the change over process (although it has been explained to them), is for you to pay for the service & submit the claim to ASO in August. You will receive the same reimbursement as you always would. ![]() If you aren't already receiving emails, please join the MTABF email distribution list & receive information on updates & changes that are occurring. The MTABF board of trustees has approved a change to our third party provider. We will be changing from our current provider (The Preferred Group) to Administrative Services Only, Inc (ASO). The changeover process will begin this summer. Please check the dates below.

![]() March is the month to enroll/reenroll dependent(s)/ family for dental coverage. Please remember that you, the member, are covered at no additional charge. If you are covering a spouse or other eligible dependents, you must enroll them every year. The cost for dental during the plan year that runs July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 will be the same as last year. Enrolling a dependent(s) can only be done during the enrollment period of March 1 – 31. Dependents will be covered from July 1 - June 30. If you don’t re-enroll each year, you are electing to drop coverage for your dependent(s). Your dependent(s) must then wait 3 years to re-enter the dental plan. Dependent children are eligible for coverage from birth to their 26th birthday if they are not eligible for dental coverage under another plan. Please note that you use your variable benefit for the same year as the dental coverage is in effect, so you will be utilizing next year’s variable for next year’s dental coverage. A Variable Benefit Claim Form must be submitted w/ your dental enrollment. If you are planning on retiring, you are NOT eligible to utilize the Variable Benefit and may need to pay depending on the retirement plan you elect to participate in.
