GETTING READY TO RETIRE & THE FUTURE OF YOUR MTABF BENEFITS:

STEP 1:  Once you know that you are going to retire & have worked out the details with the Mahopac Central School District, you need to inform the MTABF of this decision. You can do this by filling out the Google Form located to the right on this page. 👉

STEP 2: Before you actually retire, it is important to consider what type of supplemental benefit plan suits your needs.  You can get more information by watching the video at the top of this page.

HOW DO MY BENEFITS CHANGE IN RETIREMENT?
Retired members are able to keep many of the benefits that they have had as an active member. However, the he base cost of the benefits must now be paid for by the retired members, as the district only covers the base cost for active members.

Here are the differences for each benefit:

  • Included for the retired member with a paid plan.
  • Spouse/Dependent or Family Plans are available for additional purchase (at the same cost an active member would pay).
  • 🔗See MTABF Dental Page for more information.

Vision
  • Included for the retired member with a paid plan.
  • Choose between Raymond Opticians, or a provider of your choice.
  • Can be assigned instead to a spouse or other eligible dependent.

Each year the MTABF hosts an Informational Retirement Session for all those members who will be retiring before the start of the next school year. In the spring, an invitation is sent to all pending retirees who have informed the MTABF of their decision.

The trustees of the MTABF are available to help you fill out forms and answer your questions. The MTABF urges you to attend this meeting; educate yourself and start planning for your future.
