OUR PLAN IS NOT CHANGING! 
THE ONLY THING CHANGING IS THE ADMINISTRATOR WHO PAYS THE CLAIMS ON THE MTABF's BEHALF.

Please do not submit any claims to Preferred or ASO during the July 15 -August 15 blackout period. After all data is transferred to ASO from Preferred, approximately by 8.15.23, claims can be submitted to ASO.

The blackout period DOES NOT mean you can't visit providers (i.e. dentists, vision, etc.) You CAN!

You & your providers just need to wait until August 15th to submit claims. If a provider is telling you something different or refusing you service, they do not understand how this transition works.

An alternative option to providers denying you service because they don't understand the change over process (although it has been explained to them), is for you to pay for the service & submit the claim to ASO in August. You will receive the same reimbursement as you always would.

This updated information on the transition from Preferred to ASO was also emailed to your school email.  Please note that this will GO INTO EFFECT AUGUST 1, 2023.

JUNE 26, 2023:
In order to provide all MTABF members with better service, the board of trustees of the benefit fund has approved a change to our third party provider.  We will be changing from our current provider (The Preferred Group) to Administrative Services Only, Inc (ASO).  The changeover process will begin this summer.  Please check the dates below.
  • JULY 15: Please do not send claims to The Preferred Group after July 15th.  Keep a copy of claims sent to The Preferred Group.
  • JULY 15 -AUGUST 15: No claims should be sent between July 15th and August 15th. Hold all claims.
  • AUGUST 15: Claims submission will resume. Claims for the 2022 - 2023 school year will be sent directly to ASO.  Additional information about claim submission to ASO will follow, as well as be posted on the MTABF website.
  • SEPTEMBER 1: In order for claims to be reimbursed, claims from 2022-2023 must be postmarked September 1st.  Claims submitted after this date will not be reimbursed.​
